Who Will the Jewish Community Leaders Back for Mayor?
As the
mayoral race begins to heat up, questions are starting to be asked regarding
who the Jewish Community leaders will support.
NYC Councilman David Greenfield
Councilman Greenfield, who has emerged as one of the most important Jewish political players in New York, may prove as influential in the mayoral race as he was in the September legislative race. Insiders say that Greenfield has told close associates he believes Christine Quinn would be the best choice for the Jewish Community. Although many in the community see Quinn as an extension of Mike Bloomberg, Greenfield believes Quinn has helped our community and supported important mosdos.
Assemblyman Dov Hikind
Hikind has not yet declared who he is supporting for mayor. A source close to Hikind says that he may end up supporting NYC Comptroller John Liu, Bill Thompson or Bill de Blasio. Hikind has also admitted that he will not support Quinn.

NY State Senator Simcha Felder
Senator Felder has not been known to jump into the fray. Felder, a Democrat who is caucusing with the Republicans in Albany, once had a close working relationship with Quinn when he was on the City Council, but it seems unlikely that he will openly declare his support for any candidate—at least not this early in the game.
